The Association was founded in 1913 for the purpose of promoting interest in - and knowledge of - the organ and its repertoire and also in church music. These are still its main aims today. To achieve these aims, SADOCA arranges talks, master-classes, recitals and visits to instruments of interest.
SADOCA also recognises the importance of giving mutual support and encouragement to its members, particularly those who may find it difficult to attend regular events. To this end, it publishes a quarterly newsletter / magazine, for which written contributions are always welcome.
The Association is affiliated to the Incorporated Association of Organists, a nation-wide body, which also publishes an excellent quarterly magazine on organ matters. SADOCA members can arrange to receive this at a reduced rate.
New members will be made most welcome. In particular, the Association wishes to encourage younger people to join. SADOCA is open to anyone who loves the organ and its music, whether a player or not.
Membership of the Association is by annual subscription, usually payable in September, but a pro rata price can be negotiated for those joining during the year.
The subscription rate for 2008/9 is £15.00, students £7.50 and under-16s £2.00.
